2009 Wolfe Island Field Trip and Picnic

On Sunday, August 16, 2009, the NFP hosted a field trip and picnic on Wolfe Island to visit three interesting farms, tour the new wind turbines and have a picnic at the Big Sandy Bay park. There was a bus waiting on Wolfe Island to take over 50 people around for a day of learning and a great chance to meet other members of the local farm and food community. Farms visited included the Rothermel family farm (Windkeeper), the Pyke family farm, and the White family farm.

The NFP Farm Tour visits the Pyke family farm to see their bison operation, with windmills visible on the horizon.
